• Sunday May 1 Brunch Run to The Cheesecake Factory and Lake Sherwood Cruise

    Hello Cruisers!

Are you ready for a great lunch and a nice cruise to a car show in Camarillo?

From our club’s new Activities Committee:

This coming Sunday (May 1st) at 10:00am, the Tri-County Mustang Club is meeting at Wood Ranch in the Pacific View Mall, Ventura (Mills and Main St.) then cruising to The Cheesecake Factory at The Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks for brunch. After brunch, we will be cruising by the beautiful homes and enjoying the scenery around Lake Sherwood on Potrero Road on through to Camarillo cruising right by Cal State Channel Islands and on to the Camarillo Airport, where the Lions Club’s is hosting the ROP Car Show (free). Car Show info -> http://www.westcoastgearheads.com/ca...8&day=2011-5-1

    Here’s the Schedule:
10:00am: Meet at the Wood Ranch in the Pacific View Mall parking lot (Mills and Main St.)

10:15am: We depart via the 101 Freeway South to the Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks. Take the Lynn Road exit and go left over the freeway to Hillcrest Dr. Destination is The Cheesecake Factory located on the backside of the mall at 442 W. Hillcrest Dr. The phone # for the Cheesecake Factory is 805-371-9705 in case you get separated from the group or if you show up later for the cruise following lunch.

Arrive at Cheesecake Factory. We’ll probably arrive sooner, but this allows for some buffer time.

Around 12:30pm: depart via the 101 Freeway South to S. Westlake Blvd. Keep to the right and we will continue on to Potrero Rd, cruise along Lake Sherwood, see beautiful homes and scenery, and eventually end up behind Cal State Channel Islands in Camarillo. The cruise will take about 45 minutes (guesstimate).

    Apprx 1:15pm:
Arrive at the Camarillo Airport to visit the Lion’s Club ROP Car Show. The arrival at this location will depend of whether we stop along the cruise route to take pictures.

Some interesting info about Lake Sherwood:
"Lake Sherwood, originally Potrero Lake, is the oldest man-made lake in California. It was built in 1904 and is approximately 165 acres. It was changed to Lake Sherwood when the surrounding areas, used for the filming of "Robin Hood" starring Douglas Fairbanks, Sr., in 1921, became known as "Sherwood Forest" and "Maid Marian Park."

Inside the gates of Sherwood is the "Robin Hood Cabin," a home built for the movie and it is rumored that Fairbanks lived there while filming "Robin Hood." It is a registered Ventura County Historical Landmark."

Be sure to bring your GoPro cameras, video recorders and hand held cameras! There may be spots to stop and take some nice photos of the cars!
